Nano-Fat Injections
Nano-Fat Injections
Also known as lipofilling or small quantity fat transfer, this treatment entails a small amount of fat being removed from your abdomen, thighs etc. The fat is liquified and filtered so that it can pass through the smallest needle. The solution obtained is rich in stem cells which repair and regenerate tissue in the area into which it is injected.
Treatment FAQs
Nano-fat Grafting, also called “Nano Fat Injection”, is a specific fat transfer method in which adipose tissue (fat) is harvested from a region rich in adipose tissue. The harvested fat is purified and processed into either micro or nano-fat.
Micro-fat particles are larger and more suitable for use in filling deeper wrinkles and hollow areas. Nano-fat is a finer, almost liquid consistency making it more suitable for more delicate areas such as tear troughs, fine lines around the eyes and mouth.
The solution obtained from the process are rich in stem cells, growth factors and wound-healing factors which also make nano-fat injections a fantastic method of rejuvenating and regenerating the quality of the skin as well as restoring youthful facial contours.
Nano-fat is a type of fat highly rich in stem cells and its main task is tissue repair and regeneration. Nano-fat injection can be applied to any area where the skin is losing quality due to age e.g. thinning, wrinkled and damaged with irregularities in texture and tone.
Dr Sebagh has found treatment with Nano-Fat Injections to be especially effective for the following conditions:
- Dark circles (Nano-Fat Injections can be used to treat the colour associated with dark circles. The treatment thickens the dermis and creates a protective layer between the thin skin around the eyelids and the capillaries below. The transparency of the under-eye skin disappears as the fat cells create a coating between the skin and the underlying structures. The colour of the dark circle is corrected and the sunken under-eye circle is greatly improved.)
- Fine lines in the eye contour.
- Correcting eye bags and hollow under eyes.
- Collapsed areas across the face.
- Fine wrinkles around the mouth.
- Fine lines and wrinkles in the cleavage and décolletage.
- Neck wrinkles.
- Restoring collapsed skin caused by liposuction or trauma.
- Wound-induced skin deformation.
- Loss of vitality in the hands due to ageing.
- Stretch marks on the breasts and buttocks.
After a thorough consultation, the procedure begins with liposuction in the recommended area to extract fat cells from the subcutaneous layer. It is possible to harvest fat from anywhere in the body with a sufficient amount of adipose tissue. Fat in the lower abdomen, around the navel, inside thigh and knees have the highest amount of stem cells.
The fat is then placed in a centrifuge machine under sterile conditions to refine the fat before the solution is emulsified and filtered.
Your doctor will then inject this stem-cell rich nano-fat solution into the treatment area using a a very fine needle.
Nano-Fat Injections can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles up to 70% after a single session. Additional sessions may be preferred for improved results, depending on the quality of the skin in the treatment area and the patient's unique biochemistry.
Depending on the condition of the patient, the Nano-Fat Injection procedure is performed either under local anaesthetic or sedation to minimise the patient's discomfort.
Nano-Fat Injections are an extremely reliable, aesthetic procedure with minimal side effects.
Because the fat is taken from the patient's own body there is no risk of allergic reaction because the fat is biocompatible and very well accepted.
There is minimal downtime required and the pain experienced during recovery is usually mild.
You will be discharged on the same day but are advised to rest for 2-3 days after which you can resume work and daily activities.
It is normal to have mild bruising, oedema and swelling in the fat harvesting and re-injection sites within the first week after the treatment. This should settle of its own accord within a few days.
Smoking can adversely affect the success and persistence of Nano-Fat Injections as it reduces the oxygen content in the blood. Therefore, it is recommended that people who plan to have nano-fat grafting do not smoke.
The effects of nano-fat injection are not visible immediately and will become apparent over a period of 1-3 months following treatment. After Nano-Fat Injections, 70 to 80% of the transferred fat will survive in the body and the rest will be absorbed.
The natural rejuvenation results provided by Nano-Fat Injections can last up to 3 years.
Nano-Fat Injections can be applied in combination with all kinds of non-surgical treatments for the face including skin peeling, PRP, PRF, skin resurfacing treatments, dermal filler and Botox.
The basic difference is the fact that the fat to be transferred in Nano-Fat Injections is first centrifuged under sterile conditions to thin down and refine the fat and passed through an emulsion procedure. In this way, the fat tissue removed is mechanically isolated into cells to yield nano-fat cells rich in stem cells.
The resulting nano-fat is not intended for filling. It is rather restorative. The results are both longer lasting and more natural looking than fat transfer.
